- 1 large puff pastry
- 300 g veggie minced meat (non baked, I use https://www.ah.nl/producten/product/wi493518/beyond-meat-hack)
- garlic glove
- 1 Tbsp ketjap manis
- 2 tsp sambal
- 1 egg + 1 egg for covering
- handful of breadcrumbs
- salt
- black sesame seed for garnish
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (convection).
- Divide the sheet of puff pastry in half. To do this, cut the sheet of puff pastry in half lengthwise.
- Mix the minced meat with the garlic, ketjap, sambal, 1 egg, breadcrumbs and salt. If the minced meat is too wet, add an extra handful of breadcrumbs. If you want to taste whether your minced meat is sufficiently seasoned, fry a small piece in the pan.
- Roll the vegetarian mince into 2 long sausages. Place each in the middle of a strip of puff pastry. You can optionally pipe the vegetarian mince onto the dough using a piping bag with a wide nozzle.
- Brush the bottom of the strip with the beaten egg. Fold the top of the puff pastry over the vegetarian mince. Press the pastry down and prick with a fork. Brush the pastry with a layer of egg yolk.
- Garnish the puff pastry with black sesame seeds. You can also use regular sesame seeds or poppy seeds.
- Cut the puff pastry into 4 equal pieces. Bake the vegetarian sausage rolls for 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius. Cover the sausage rolls in between if they get too dark.
